More Cloth Bottyness…

07 Aug

After posting about wanting to use cloth nappies a few days ago I actually bit the bullet and made a nappy purchase…

nappy1

Aldi have had these in for a while so I’ve wanted to get them every time we’ve gone in (three or four times a week) but I really wasn’t sure about them. Then I read on a Facebook group that they’d been reduced, so I made it my mission to grab a pack when we next went in.

They weren’t as cheap as I was expecting (some stores have them for £7.99 apparently) but considering that Bambino Mio sell the covers alone for £7.99 (and the four inserts for £14.99) I thought that it was an excellent saving. Plus…I LOVE the foxy/toadstooly design…

In the pack you get two “water resistant” covers (the other is plain white) and four absorbent inners, along with 50 disposable liners.

These are prefold nappies (you fold up a large piece of absorbent cotton and pop it inside the cover before velcroing it up) and they seem quite easy to use…

…the cotton inner has soft seams to help you fold it correctly and the cover has a pockety bit at the front to help keep the innr in pace. It does seem a bit bulky so I’m reserving judgement until I can actually use it on our boy.

I was very tempted to buy two packs, but there weren’t any other designs to choose from and I’m not sure I want to spend another £11 on something that might not even work for us. They did have quite a few left though so I’m going to keep an eye out and maybe grab another pack if they do go down to £7.99…

…I do REALLY like that foxy design…

Had to comment on this post…I’ve been following your blog for a couple of years now, after you took a road trip to a wedding in France. We were about to head over to the continent on our first trip there in Gladys, our T25.
I’ve hardly touched my blog but still get your updates. I’ve been reading a few of your posts along the way, thinking we’ve been following a similar trajectory. My little boy is now 16month, I was in my first trimester on that trip to France and beyond!
Anyway my point being….welcome to the world of cloth nappies! 😀 We too do cloth and as we speak we’re in the Cotswolds on a camping break….still managing to cloth bum in a camper 🙂 (yes I’m proud of that one!)
Congratulations on your pregnancy. I too suffered hip issues…I feel your pain…well, thankfully now I don’t, it did go away very quickly after his birth so be reassured! Other things will take prominence anyway 😉
Best of luck with everything x

Ooh, I may have to hit you up for advice once we’re on our way properly! I’ve seen many campers say they can’t manage cloth when away in their tents/vans so it’d be great to hear how you manage with it 🙂
Thank you for the congratulations and the same back to you!! No wonder your blog has gone by the wayside if you’ve got a little one to run around after 🙂 xxx

How did you get on using these ? We use them on my 8week old and love the covers, although we use little lamb nappies instead of prefolds.

Still haven’t tried them!! Our little one is almost 6 weeks and hasn’t gotten to 8lbs yet (he’s still a teeny 7lb 8oz) so I’ve not even tried them on hus skinny bum 🙂 I really should have a go though! Are the Little Lambs AIOs? Xxx

Aw bless him. Do try but the leg gap might still be a bit baggy. The little lambs are fitted nappies, they need a cover. They come in size 1 and 2 and different absorption, it’s worth having a look at their website 😊 I used lil joeys from birth but because she was a chunky baby they didn’t fit her after a week, they were great, those are AIOs xx

Thank you 🙂 I’ll stick the foldy parts in the wash and try them out. I do like the sound of the Little Lambs! They seem a lot easier than the prefolds, and I’m guessing you can use the same cover a few times in a row if it’s clean? Xxx

Yes, I use the same cover for about 3 nappies unless it smells of wee, but so far I haven’t I haven’t had any poo explosion, only when using disposable. Hope you manage to use them soon, fluffy bums are the best.x
